What is a Sonnen Battery?
Sonnen battery is a premium quality battery system suitable for residential or commercial applications. It is available as either an AC coupled or Hybrid unit. The all-in-one system allows for an easy installation and can connect to any existing or new solar panels.
The Sonnen battery will help you save money on bills by maximising your solar self-consumption. It also offers time based charging enabling you to charge from the grid using cheap ‘off peak’ electricity.
This is a premium quality German battery and a genuine competitor with the Tesla Powerwall. It is modular in design with a storage capacity to suit all circumstances.
Founded in 2010 in Germany, Sonnen is a significant, long-term player in the energy storage market. Over 50,000 battery storage systems have been installed worldwide and in 2019 Sonnen was bought by Shell.
Superior Battery Chemistry:
The battery chemistry used in the Sonnen range is lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4). The two main advantages of LiFePO4 chemistry are:

A key advantage of the Sonnen system is its modular nature. It is available in a range of capacities to suit all needs. The basic unit is a 5 kWh system and this can be increased in 2.5 kWh increments as follows:
5 kWh, 7.5 kWh, 10 kWh, 12.5 kWh, 15 kWh
Sonnen Hybrid Battery:
The Hybrid unit offers maximum cost efficiency as just one inverter is required for the solar PV system and the battery charging functions. This significantly reduces the total cost of a combined solar panel and battery storage system.
This unit also provides the most electrically efficient way to store surplus energy from your solar panels during the day time, for use later that night.
