A: London, Surrey, Essex and the South East. If you’re in this area we will be pleased to speak with you, if you’re outside we may still be able to help so please contact and if we can’t help we will refer you to a trusted partner in your part of the country.
Q: What are your opening hours?
A: We are open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, but you can contact us anytime via info@sogosolar.co.uk or call free on 0800 0025833.
Q: Do you charge for a site survey?
A: No this is free; we can often check the suitability and viability of your property from Google Maps and do initial work to suggest a proposed design. But to ensure the electric safety and check the structure of the roof a site survey is necessary before a final quotation can be made.
Q: Is your work covered by any warranty?
A: Our workmanship is guaranteed for a period of 2 years during which time we will respond to any problems at no cost to yourself. As members of the Real Assurance consumer protection scheme (RECC) customers are also protected by an insurance backed warranty scheme.
Q: Who are you accredited by?
A: The MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme), RECC (Renewable Energy Consumer Code), Elecsa (Electrical Contractor Association) and the Which? Trusted Trader scheme. See below for further details:
Q: What are the benefits of using an MCS certified installer?
A: If you are interested in generating your own energy, it is important to use an MCS certified Installer so that the technology you choose is specified, installed and maintained correctly ,MCS is a mark of quality. Using an MCS certified installer ensures that equipment meets good standards of performance and that installers are technically safe and competent. MCS certified Installers have undergone a rigorous vetting process to demonstrate that they adhere to our Standards. These Standards demonstrate a commitment to quality. They will also be a member of a Consumer Code which means strengthened customer protection for you. If your technology is eligible for a government incentive, you will need to be able to provide MCS certification to claim this.
Q: What is the Renewable Energy Consumer Code?
A: the aim of the Renewable Energy Consumer Code is to ensure that consumers wishing to install a small-scale heat or power generation unit for their homes have the necessary confidence and service standards so that they can make an informed choice.
Q: Who are Members of the Code?
A: Our members are firms selling or leasing small-scale renewable or low carbon heat or power generation unit who have agreed to comply with the Renewable Energy Consumer Code. The Code is backed by the Trading Standards Institute (TSI) as part of a self-regulation initiative.
The Consumer Code, the Consumer Guidelines and the other guidance documents on the website are designed to help consumers get advice on generation solutions without being subjected to negative marketing/sales tactics, and to ensure high standards of service before, during and after a contract is agreed.
Useful Information for consumers: It is important that consumers have full information about the upfront costs, the running costs and the expected performance before they agree to buy or lease a small-scale heat or power generating unit. Code members have agreed to provide this to consumers in an easy-to-understand format. Our Guidance for Consumers section has some useful information for anyone thinking about buying a generating unit for their home, community building or small business.
Q: Why use an ELECSA registered business?
A: when it comes to improving the electrics in your home, choosing an ELECSA registered contractor is a householder’s best option. That’s because all ELECSA registered businesses are covered by a Platinum Promise – a promise that protects you against all non-compliant installation work.
Should any work carried out by an ELECSA registered contractor be found not to comply with the Building Regulations or relevant installation standards, ELECSA can instruct the contractor to go back and carry out the work to the required standard.
If the contractor is no longer in business or disputes the matter ELECSA will bring the work up to the required standard by another registered contractor at no extra cost to you.
The Platinum promise is valid for up to six years from the date of the completion of the original work and covers work up to a maximum of £25,000 for any one installation.
